Roads within Long Lama, Long Bedian to be improved

A total of 23.7km of existing earth roads within the Long Lama and Long Bedian area, in the Miri Division, will be upgraded to R1 standard in an infrastructure project implemented by the Highland Development Agency (HDA), under RECODA.

The improvements will also cover spur roads connecting to Long Buang, Long Tujang and Long Wat. Soil investigation works are completed, while excavation works and slope cutting are underway. Contractor’s facilities, including living quarters and a site office, have also been constructed.

The project is expected to be completed by next year.

New single-lane bridge to cross Sungai Layun at Long Kevok

Soil investigation works for the construction of a new single-lane bridge crossing Sungai Layun at Long Kevok, in the Miri division, has just been completed.

Piling works have begun for the foundation of the reinforced concrete bridge, which will be followed by groundworks for roads and drainages.

The infrastructure project is implemented by the Highland Development Agency (HDA), under RECODA. It is expected to be completed by the middle of this year.

Long Lama Town to see upgrades to internal roads and drains

Folk at Long Lama Town will soon enjoy new upgrades to their internal roads and drains in an infrastructure project implemented by the Highland Development Agency (HDA), under RECODA.

Two adjoining roads are being resurfaced in Phase 1 of the project. Drainage structures will also be constructed.

The project is expected to be completed by the middle of this year.

Value assessment lab kickstarts for Miri-Marudi, Marudi-Mulu (Kuala Melinau) and Long Panai-Long Lama project

MIRI: Travelling by road from Miri to Marudi enroute to Mulu all the way to Long Lama will not be a long, bumpy and arduous journey in the future once the proposed roads linking Miri-Marudi, Marudi-Mulu (Kuala Melinau) and Long Panai-Long Lama is completed by 2027.

To kickstart this proposed project, a two-day value assessment lab is held, starting today, which involves the participation from all relevant stakeholders to provide in-depth input and feedback on the design, alignment, architectural works, mechanical & electrical works, utilities relocation works as well as socio-economic impact.

In his brief speech during the opening of the lab, RECODA’s chief executive officer Datu Ismawi Ismuni said the whole landscape of these areas would change for the better once the project is completed.

“The area will be opened up where it will help generate socio-economic activities which will then transcend into greater prosperity for the rakyat.”

“RECODA has been given the directive to fast-track the project by implementing it seamlessly, overcoming material logistics and land-related challenges.”

“We would like to engage with stakeholders and gather constructive input and important feedback at this lab to ensure that this large-scale project is a success story.”

“Hence, this lab is important to align everyone so that all of us here are on the same page with the same objective – which is to deliver the project timely, with the most optimum cost for the benefit of the rakyat, without leaving any stone unturned. We do not want to miss out anything,” said Ismawi.

Construction of the proposed roads will involve a total length of 160.5km of single carriageway, nine major bridges and 13 minor bridges as well as one passenger jetty terminal.

Present at the lab were Deputy Chairman of Highland Development Agency (HDA)  YB Dato Gerawat Gala, Assistant Minister for Local Government and Housing, Datu Dr. Penguang Manggil and State Assemblyman for Telang Usan, Dennis Ngau.

Improvement of existing road to Long Laput

About 5km of existing dirt road linking Long Laput to the Lapok road leading to Long Lama, in the Miri division will be upgraded to modified R1 road standard.

Site clearing and earthworks are currently in progress, along with slope stabilisation and drainage works. The infrastructure project is implemented by the Highland Development Agency (HDA), under RECODA. Construction is expected to be completed by the middle of this year.

New bridge crossing Sungai Layun at Long Kevok

A new single lane bridge crossing Sungai Layun at Long Kevok, in the Miri division will be constructed in an infrastructure project implemented by the the Highland Development Agency (HDA), under RECODA.

Excavation for roadside drains and piling works for the concrete bridge are ongoing, while a temporary bridge diverts traffic. The project is expected to be completed by this year.
