SCORE broadens its horizon as it diversifies for newer opportunities

KUCHING: Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) – the lead agency in the development of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) – held its 7th Board of Directors’ Meeting, on Wednesday, 20th July 2016.

Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan Haji Satem Chief Minister of Sarawak and Chairman of the RECODA Board of Directors, was briefed by RECODA Chief Executive Officer and Board Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot on progress to date as well as the overall development of SCORE.

Deputy State Secretary Datu Haji Ismawi Haji Ismuni also briefed the Board of Directors on related developments.

Using well researched data and figures, the RECODA CEO briefed the Board on key highlights from Samalaju Growth Node that showcase the success story of SCORE as it matures and diversifies into more markets and industries.

The RECODA CEO highlighted to the board that whilst the successes of RECODA and SCORE are admirable, RECODA is diversifying its spectrum in line with its emerging focus for SCORE to ensure the early successes continue.

“The SCORE Development model which currently covers the central region of Sarawak has provided a successful development model in the State. Through the development of road and other infrastructures, it has opened up the State rural areas, created jobs and ensured economic growth, diversification and expansion of the State Economy,” said RECODA CEO, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot.

RECODA has captured a total realised public and private investment of circa RM70 billion and this does not include palm oil industry clusters and property investments in some of the growth nodes.

Furthermore, projects within SCORE have created over 22,720 jobs since 2008. RECODA has a planned investment of RM334 billion by 2030.

In attendance were the Board’s two Deputy Chairmen, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, Trade and Investment Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

The Board Members present included State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani; Public Private Partnership Unit (Prime Minister’s Department) Director General Dato’ Ahmad Husni Hussain; State Planning Unit (Chief Minister’s Department) Director Datu Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Malaysian Investment Development Authority CEO Dato’ Azman Mahmud; and MH Marican Advisory Sdn Bhd Chairman and CEO Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican, as well as representatives from the State Financial Secretary’s Office, Economic Planning Unit (Prime Minister’s Department); and Treasury (Ministry of Finance).
