On 13th May 2015, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Mohd. Yassin visited Miri to attending a briefing on the Integrated Highland Agriculture Station (IHAS) within the Baram growth node.
Present during the briefing were Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Alfred Jabu Numpang, Sarawak State Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, and Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot.
Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Muhyiddin praised the State Government for its efforts in initiating development programmes to stimulate economic growth in Sarawak. He will give his full support towards the development of the Baram growth node that has been earmarked for IHAS. As a sign of support, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri will adopt two villages – the Kelabit-majority Long Peluan and Penan-majority Long Beruan – situated under IHAS.
