The Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) and International Engineering Conference 2014 (UNIMAS STEM EnCon2014) was held in Kuching, Sarawak from 8th to 10th December 2014.

With the theme “Advances in Process Engineering, Green Technology and STEM Education”, the conference was organized by the Faculty of Engineering, UNIMAS in a strategic partnership with Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (TEGAS).

Endorsed by the Sarawak State Government and in collaboration with Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and Natural Resources and Environment Board Sarawak (NREB), the event was officiate by YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin, the Assistant Minister of Sports.

UNIMAS STEM EnCon2014 hopes to  provide an avenue for professionals, academicians and industries to highlight and transfer research findings and developments in Process Engineering and Green Energy through its 16 technical sessions, while also creating a platform for roughly 200 professionals, academicians and industries to network and exchange ideas on developments in the field of Process Engineering, Green Energy and STEM education.

Highlights of the conference included our prominent keynote addresses by Emeritus Professor Dr Martin Rhodes from Monash University, Australia; Datuk Torstein Dale Sjotveit from Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB); Professor Ir Dr Mohd Sobri Takriff from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; and Professor Ir Dr Dominic Foo Chwan Yee from Nottingham University, Malaysia Branch.

Held at the Riverside Majestic Hotel, exhibitions and information booths by RECODA, SEB, TEGAS and NREB  were also on display.

UNIMAS STEM EnCon2014 was also used as a platform to disseminate information on SCORE’s current progress and development, as well as other information relevant to industries and the public. The event hopes to complement the state government’s and SCORE’s efforts to modernize education and produce skilled manpower.
