International Biomass Conference Malaysia 2015

On 8 December 2015, the International Biomass Conference Malaysia (IBCM) 2015 witnessed the launch of Sabah Biomass Industry Development Plan (SBIDP) and the establishment of a Federal-State government driven Sabah Biomass Delivery Unit that will serve to execute the plan, serving as a major milestone for Malaysia’s stride towards a regional Premier Biomass Hub.

The two-day conference featured 27 speakers, both international and regional experts in six panel discussions featuring topics such as; Is Biomass Industry a Threat to Environmental Sustainability, Can Malaysia be the Regional Biomass-Based Processing Hub, Gearing Towards an Advanced Bioeconomy, Is it Worth the RiskAccelerating Commercialisation of Biomass Research, and Incentives and Funding – Ways in Achieving Bankable Biomass Projects.

Briefing on SCORE to Investment Delegation from China

On 2 December 2015, a briefing on SCORE was conducted to an investment delegation from China which consisted of representatives from Blue Energy Technology, Blue Ocean Energy, Cassey Enterprise Pte Ltd, and China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd.

The China delegation, who were paying a courtesy visit to RECODA’s office in Kuching, was briefed by the Head of Project Management Unit, Mr Dawend Jiwan, regarding the latest updates on SCORE projects and investment opportunities, particularly on heavy industries in the Samalaju Growth Node.

The Closing Ceremony of the Pilot Programme for the Mobile Youth Transformation Vocational (MYTV), Series 1/2015

The MYTV programme provides skills training for youths in rural areas. It is a component of the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) implemented by the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Department in collaboration with the Malaysian Army, the Ministry of Social Development and Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA).

A total of 121 participants took part in the pilot programme that ran from 14th to 28th November 2015. The inaurgural project was to refurbish the Kampung Kuala Nyalau Hall (Community Centre) and the project was completed on schedule.

The program is a program of skills training for the youth in the rural areas as an initiative of the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) implemented by the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Department in collaboration with the Malaysian Army, the Ministry of Social Development and Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA).

National-Level Farmers, Livestock Breeders and Fishermen Day Celebration

The Kota Samarahan Civic centre was chosen as the location for this year’s Hari Peladang, Penternak dan Nelayan Peringkat Kebangsaan (HPPNK) 2015. RECODA participated in the exhibition to showcase and promote the development of SCORE and to introduce strategic locations within SCORE that are suitable for agriculture, livestock and fisheries related activities.

A total of 50 agencies took part in the celebration, the biggest event since 1987.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Datuk Patinggi Mohd Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak opened the event and the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Haji Adenan Bin Haji Satem provided the closing remarks.

Education and Career Exhibition held in conjunction with Mukah Regatta 2015

The two-day Education and Career Exhibition event was held in conjunction with Mukah Regatta 2015 from the 27 to 28 November 2015. Officiating the event was the Minister of Housing and Minister of Tourism Sarawak, Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg.

RECODA participated in the event with the objective of conveying to members of the public on the developments of SCORE as well as future development plans for the Mukah Growth Node.

Job opportunities offered in SCORE areas was also promoted.
