SAMALAJU: The State Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was recently briefed on the latest development happening in the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), specifically on the progress of the Samalaju Growth Node.
The briefing was held in conjunction with a working visit by several members of the PAC to Samalaju Industrial Park here Tuesday, that was led by PAC Chairman, YB Dr Haji Abdul Rahman Haji Ismail, who is also the State Legislative Assemblyman for Bukit Kota.
Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) Chief Executive Officer YBhg Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot presented the briefing on Samalaju and also on the present overview of SCORE.
The event organised by RECODA also provided a good opportunity for members of the PAC to be updated on issues regarding SCORE and Samalaju Growth Node that were raised during the committee’s September proceeding.
The issues raised included matters on the workforce situation within SCORE, environmental protection, infrastructure works, and energy and water supply.
Apart from RECODA, Bintulu Development Authority and Tokuyama Malaysia Sdn Bhd were on hand to brief the members of the PAC, while other relevant government agencies were also present to provide them with updates.
While at Samalaju Industrial Park, the PAC members and entourage also had a first-hand look at the progress of the Samalaju Port construction, and toured the manufacturing plant of Press Metal Bhd, which is already in operation.
Among those accompanying the PAC on the working visit were State Legislative Assembly Speaker YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, and Assistant Minister for Industrial Development YB Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie, who is also Samalaju Industrial Park Liaison Committee Chairman.
