Sejiwa Senada 2016 in Miri

The Sejiwa Senada programme is a government initiative to encourage local participation in business and in particular cottage industries that have a lower cost of entry. The first in a series of six events across the state was held recently in Miri from January 8th – 10th and was well attended by the public who were able to visit more than 134 booths represented by federal and state government and non government agencies. Speaking at the event, State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani stated that the programme was originally introduced in 2010. He was also interviewed by one of the exhibitors, RTM and said during the discussion, “It is like the mobile version of UTC (Urban Transformation Centre) involving government officials, who go to the ground and meet the people. The carnival serves to enhance the rapport between those from the government and the people.”

The next leg of the programme will be in Sibu from Jan 15th to 17th before moving on to the Sarikei Sports Complex from Feb 19th to 21st, then moves on to Saratok from Feb 26th to 28th and Kapit from March 4th to 6th before the last event at the Old Market Pukah from March 18th to 20th.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Chief Minister of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan bin Haji Satem on 9th January 2016.
