Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and his officials made a trip to the offices of Tokuyama Malaysia Sdn Bhd and visited the Samalaju Port on 8th March 2015. The visit was to help in the fine-tuning of policies and measures to maintain effective Federal-State cooperation in ensuring Sarawak’s economic growth.
The visit here began with a briefing session by Chief Executive Officer of RECODA, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot, in Imperial Hotel, Samalaju, followed by a briefing at the office of Tokuyama Malaysia Sdn Bhd. A visit to Samalaju Port was the last session on the agenda for Sarawak “Turun Padang”, where Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed ended his visit with a media conference.
Accompanying Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed in his working visit were Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment, Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Assistant Minister of Industrial Estate Development, Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie, Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Group CEO of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad Dato Mior Ahmad Baiti.
According to Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) would become an important development area and dynamic investment zone. It is expected many more foreign companies would be investing in Samalaju Industrial Park in the near future.
